Gujarat is located on the western coast of India and has the longest coastline of 1,600 km in the country. The state shares its borders with Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and the Union Territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. The Arabian Sea borders the state both to the west and the south-west. Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhav-nagar and Jamnagar are some of the key cities of the state.
The state has a coast line of 1600 Km with many natural harbors and home to large ports like Kandla and Mundra (the largest private port in India) and is well connected to the rest of country.
Gujarat accounts for the largest share in the total investments in the food processing sector of India. Gujarat has 51 dairy plants, second highest in the country, besides known for its brand ‘Amul’.
At current prices, Gujarat’s GSDP* was about Rs 17.01 trillion (US$ 243.45 billion) during 2019-20.
The state’s GSDP grew at a CAGR of 13.53 per cent, during 2011- 12 to 2019-20.
According to the DPIIT, FDI inflows to Gujarat totalled US$ 23.18 billion from April 2000 to June 2019.
Up to October 2019, 367 investment intentions worth Rs 218,611 crore (US$ 31.28 billion) were filed in Gujarat.
Gujarat recorded US$ 54,329.65 Million worth of exports in 2019 (Apr-Dec), contributing 20.51% to India's net exports.
Government of Gujarat allocated Rs. 7500 Crore towards Agriculture, Farmer Welfare and Cooperative related Activities in 2020-21 budget estimates.
